Opposites Attract

I woke up this morning and had a great idea for a new blog!

Problem is the only thing I could remember by the time I sat down to write it was the title.

I have no idea where I was headed with it either.

Sad.

So I figured since I haven't written about my life in a while I would do it now!

Nothing really new to report. those of you who are my friends on Face Book know what has been happening with my brother-in-law being in the hospital and all.

If you don't know, he's been in the hospital for that last two plus weeks with a diseased liver and bleeding esophagus. He is currently in rehab and getting ready to come home.

Things like that make you question your own health and situation.

In fact, as a fund raiser for him and his wife I have considered doing a sponsored weight loss-a-thon. It would be good for them and could only be good for me too!

But if I really do that I'll make a big announcement.

I really wish I could remember why I wanted to call this blog "Opposites Attract"!

So where was I?

Oh yea, me.

Its really no different than when I started this blog last October...I'm just one of those people who goes with the flow.

I get mad...then I get over it.

I laugh as often as I can.

I am of two minds about almost everything (Libra) and try to see all sides of a story before passing judgement.

What the heck does that have to do with anything?

Why am I still writing if I can't remember what I was going to write about?

I think I'll have to work up a hockey blog now.

I know.

Most of you are depressed because the Flyers snuck back into the current series with the Penguins.

Have faith kids! The Pens ARE going to win this thing!

So sit back and relax and enjoy some classic Mario Lemieux moments!

What you see is what you get...

So I've kind of noticed this Internet phenomenon known as Susan Boyle.

And I get all the chit-chat:
  • Don't judge a book by its cover!
  • Beauty is only skin deep!
  • Great things come in small packages!

But I think there is something deeper at work here.

It just goes to show how easily distracted we are by bright, shiny objects.

33 MILLION views on YouTube?

Really?

Meanwhile the economy is still in shambles, there are still TWO wars we are fighting, and Asston Kutcher is twittering to one million people! (Yes, I know I spelled that wrong.)

Step one for any good revolution? Control the media.

The media in this country force feeds us enough sugar that everything else tastes good.

So while its nice to have a little diversion every now and again. You must remember moderation is the key.

So stop with the Susan Boyle fan clubs and the adoration.

She has a good voice.

She is not solving any of the worlds problems.

Let the music play

In continuing with our television theme songs here are the top 20 (in my humble opinion) instrumental themes!

Please note that I did not include themes that had lyrics that were seldom sung (except the Andy Griffith show)because I'll probably do more of these! LOL!

Memories

Remember when television shows had ACTUAL theme songs?

And sometimes the song was actually what brought you to watch the show!

I compiled my personal list of fifteen favorite theme songs.

This version is the 70's/80's version!

Enjoy!

You Talk Too Much

If you missed the latest installment of Jeff and Glenn @10...here's what you didn't hear!

This week's intro music was courtesy Young MC.

Then we got into the Top five lists that been being posted all over Facebook.

Mr. Icepick called in and the talk turned to the Pittsburgh Penguins and their lack of a tough guy...which led into the Top 9 list:

Top 9 things overheard in the Penguin locker room after the clinched a playoff spot this season

9) Does anyone understand a word Therin is saying .
They fired him a month ago.
Oh.

8) Hey! How about letting the backup goalie play a game now!

7) Ovenchkin is real d-bag.

6) Win good. Parents Happy.

5) Who's the young guy with the glasses?
Shhhh. That's the new coach.
Oh.

4) Would someone tell Bob Erry to quit staring at me?

3) No, really. Ovenchkin is a real d-bag.

2) Can I move into my own place now Mr. Lemieux?

1) Whew!

Later we talked more Top 5 and after the closing credits went into the dark hour (which you can only hear on the download or streaming version) we talked about potential games for the upcoming shows!

Whew!

Take a listen and leave us some feedback!

Thanks!

~ Glenn

Do it again...

Same old song

So its time for the Masters again.

I'm going to make a bet with the entire Internet:

No matter where Tiger ends up each day his name will be in the first paragraph of every article written and more pictures of him will be shown then even the leader.

If I'm right then everyone has to send me one penny. (I have a paypal account...LOL)

If I'm wrong then I'll post my tribute to Tiger and how wonderful he is.

Wonderful Wolrd

Don't know much about history?

Here's your Saturday lesson!

1828 Casparus van Wooden patents chocolate milk powder (Amsterdam)

He is harassed by a crazed rabbit for the rest of his life.

1841 President William Henry Harrison died from pneumonia, one month after his inauguration.

And Glenn Beck's great grandfather breaks down weeping...setting a precedent for generations to come.

1850 City of Los Angeles incorporated

And immediately filed for bankruptcy.

1870 Golden Gate Park established by City Order #800

Thus giving the homeless and drug addled in 1870 a place to call home.

1955 British government signs military treaty with Iraq

An infant Rush Limbaugh calls them cowards...and Glenn Beck's father cries.

1964 "Anyone Can Whistle" opens at Majestic Theater NYC for 9 performances

Sadly it closed after repeated picketing by the "We Can't Whistle" Association.

1966 US performs nuclear test at Nevada Test Site

And an 80 year old woman in Las Vegas thinks she's hit the jackpot.

1975 Steve Miller is arrested for burning his girlfriend's clothes

The only thing he didn't burn was the bra.

Sing, Sing a Song

Sorry I really haven't been blogging regularly anymore.

Life is funny that way...sometimes even *I* have nothing to say!

So...for the sake of at least posting something:

Here are some great One Hit Wonders from the year 1969! (That's the year I was born, btw...I know...subtle, ain't I?)

Anyway I picked out some hits that I wasn't familiar with...maybe I can start a revival for some of these groups! LOL!
